Time for Boeing to replace the 737
The current "Max" version of the 737 is a 50+ year old design with a heavy slathering of lipstick. The 737 should have had a clean sheet replacement decades ago. Due to Boeings continual laziness, lack of innovation and not enough competition, they have been content to keep re-heating a relic of the 60's.
With all the extremely negative attention the "Max" has generated lately, maybe they will finally see the light and flush the outdated 737. Even after the MCAS flaws are fixed, the bad reputation the 737 rightfully earned will linger for years. Their best hope to save face would be to do what should have been done long long ago and replace the 737.

The 737 of today is nothing more than the -100 with a bunch of STCs. The -900 with 24K motors is the dog of the fleet.
Boeing, and rightfully so, will have trouble gaining the trust of their customers and traveling public.
Talk about a boost in sales for Airbus, and rightfully so.

I’m no Boeing defender, but I believe they were well in the development phase of a new narrow body when Airbus released the 320NEO and started gobbling up market share. The project was put on the back burner to rush the Max out and remain competitive

Boeing is starting to have serious problems with the quality of their workforce, or at least the quality of their workforce’s work ethic. The USAF has needed a KC-135 replacement since the 1970s. Boeing bid for that program with a 767 derivative which I think we can all agree is a “mature” airframe. Yet the program has been repeatedly delayed and more recently the Air Force has stopped accepting them TWICE due to finding FOD throughout the airframe. I’m not talking just gum wrappers either. I’m talking tools and aircraft parts as well as metal shavings and stray fasteners.

This is pre-maintenance 101 stuff. It should just NEVER happen.
