Default Cactus Call Sign Back?

I heard a Cactus 2 call sign flying in the southest on Wed. Is someone using the old America West/US Air call sign again?

A military unit out of Carswell picked up the callsign.

That was the call sign of the aircraft operating out of Guadalcanal in WWII. That was a hard fought battle for those fliers, a lot of aces were Cactus pilots. I would think that should be a retired call sign.

Was it the Cactus Air Force you mean? I never realized they used that callsign too. If so, I totally agree with you unless used by a military unit.
