Not true. Intend is not a firm order. Also, did you look at the time frame? The whole picture matters.

IAG almost always follows through with their orders unlike many big leasing companies and some airlines.

I also see AA ordered 50. 30 conversions and 20 extra.

I’d be surprised as I’ve mentioned before if airlines with significant NEO orders don’t follow through with XLRs. It’s just a logical move at this point with the Boeing NMA still up in the air(pardon the pun). With AA & F9 having ordered, DL, B6 & NK are good potential customers.

“ Also speaking at the conference was Barry Biffle, CEO of Frontier Airlines who said serving the U.S. coast-to-coast route during winter with a full payload, had previously been a challenge but the XLR would solve that problem.

He said the airline was also looking at various Hawaii and Alaska routes and hinted that trips to Europe were not out of the question in future. “

XLR will be a market changer in the next 5-10 years. It will allow the LCCs to compete more directly on some of the longer/thinner routes that the legacies currently service. Probably not a threat so much to DA and UA, but AA who seems to have doubled down on catering to the “budget savvy traveler” could face competition.

DL has stated they want a twin aisle aircraft for the 767ER replacement. With the very poor A330-900 sales and non existent A330-800 sales I suspect they may get a bargain on those. The XLR lacks cargo and galley space for a Delta long haul replacement.
