Default different currency

Remember, the whole world doesn't operate on U.S. Dollars. The current exchange rate is around 1.5 "SingDollars" to 1.0 U.S. Dollar. IMHO, at about the equivilant of 180,000.00 USD, they are still WAY UNDERPAID!

The real money (at least in the U.S. Legacy airlines)in airline upper management is the Bonus Plan. Stock grants, stock options, and cash bonus programs all structured so that at least one of the overlapping plans will provide a healthy payout.

Recent quarterly awards for some at AA were in the 5 Million $ neighborhood.
NWA management convinced the BK court to award themselves 4.9% ownership of the company. Similar scene at UAUA.

Salary for those guys is just walking around money...

I don't think a 777 captain should make more than the vice president of the company. I don't think executives should make more than $1 million dollars, but I certainly think they have the right to be paid good money. That is kind of odd.

Air Canada 777 captains will make about $250k flying about 90 hours. Plus say $10-15k in per diem/expenses.

It would be preety nice making 260k flying for 10 or so days

Any profession, athletes, pilots, doctors or lawyers, should be paid what the market forces will allow. We don't want anyone to be able to just set some arbitrary number of what people "should" make and also determine what "other" positions should make more. We should all work to get paid all we are worth, as determined by what salaries or contracts we can negotiate.

Just like the original article, 250K Canadien averages around just over 200K American. I have a friend who makes around 200K flying a 777 9 days a month for Continental. We aren't that far off the international pay scale

Exchange rate is at about .9 now.... $224,000 US per year it works out to

It was a good job by ACPA in negotiating this. The A340 which the 777 is replacing was only paying $214 an hour. While the new 777 pay is $227 an hour. Originaly AC tried to screw all the pilots over.... but managment thought if they dangled 787's and 777's in front of the pilots they would take any kind of contract for them.... boy where they wrong, the pilots voted it down and AC had to cancel the Boeing order. It was replaced after like a year when the pilots got what they wanted(lost a couple years on their production line spot) Its good to see things are on an upswing.
Hopefully this trend will continue down south.

Don't forget that Montie Brewer came from United, and attempting to pull the wool over the pilot's eyes is a time honored ritual over there.
