Default Thread mysteriously deleted

I started a thread a couple days ago about an American pilot arrested in China, now it is gone without a trace.

What the heck.

Is this site being run by the communist Chinese government, or maybe Mark Zuckerberg?

Or maybe they listened to what ALPA leadership was saying about not discussing a sensitive legal situation online. If ALPA thinks talking about it online will make the situation worse we need to do our detained colleague a service and not talk about it.

Weird this place is controlled by ALPA.

I appreciate that the moderators here value handling a delicate situation delicately.

China detains former US Air Force Pilot Flying for FedEx (that was the byline, goggle it)
Apparently he was detained in Guangzhou while trying to commute to his home in Hong Kong, for “nonmetallic air gun pellets in checked luggage.”

If you were he and your company, union, family or lawyer thought it best gone- would you write the same, if you could?

There has been zero from ALPA warning us about purchasing such things in China, so I doubt they much care.

More importantly is for everyone of us who layover there to be aware that U.S. pilots are now pawns for the Chi-comm government in their trade dispute with our country.

Nothing I posted violated forum rules.

Now I know how some conservatives feel when Facebook deletes them.

And btw, I got zero from any mods on why the deletion.

Exclamation Mod input

An Administrator deleted the original thread, and explained why.

“Reason: For the pilot’s safety, this should not be posted.”

A PM to any Mod could have gotten this information, without making foolish charges against APC. Arguing about Admin decisions on the forum pages is not allowed. Thank you for cooperating.

Where was that posted Tom? Since the entire thread was gone, including the title page-no one saw it. How was I to know it was deleted by admin?

I think as a matter of courtesy, a PM to me about the issue would have been appropriate.

As for the Pilot’s safety, he was released on bail. I checked before I posted the story. Not that there was anything in the Fox News story that I have any control over.

Let’s hope enough people get informed about the threat to our community before someone else falls victim.

It was in the FedEx subforum, where the post originally appeared, and only a Mod or higher can delete a thread. ALPA had nothing to do with it. We do not have the manpower to deal with multiple arguments about our decisions on the forum pages, so a PM is the only approved way to ask a question or appeal to the Administrator.
Unless approval is received, please don’t re-open a closed thread or start a similar one. Thanks.
