"Have you ever seen a UFO?"
I have not gotten that from pax yet but have from friends/family over the years.
I always respond "UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Objects. I see objects that fly that I can't identify all the time. You probably do too."

Some quotes by the famous Ben Rich, former VP of Lockheed Martin and Director of their Skunkworks Division:
"We have things in the Nevada desert that are alien to your way of thinking, far beyond anything you see on Star Trek."
"Anything you can imagine we already know how to do."
“We already have the means to travel among the stars, but these technologies are locked up in black projects and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity.”

I also saw something once that is most likely made by us, by nothing that I know exists can move the way it did. I never said to assume it came from some alien life form, but there are things flying around that are absolutely in the realm of UFO to most everyone on earth. Chances are everything we see is manmade, just way beyond our comprehension.

In my 15 years of flying I’ve only seen one thing that was unexplainable and very strange. Interestingly, I was over the north NV desert at the time. I was flying a CRJ 700 at F380, and we saw an object WAY above us with a very bright strobe. It pulsed every 11 seconds, and didn’t move for the 15-20 mins we observed it. Finally it dimmed and went out. I’ve never heard a valid explanation for that one.

I had no idea Ben Rich said those things. Do you have a source for that? I’d like to learn more. His book “Skunkworks” was absolutely fascinating.

And not moving for 10-15 mins (~100 nm)? I’ve seen a lot of satellites, iridium flares, and the space station. Without exception, all of those objects moved rather significantly and were out of view within a minute. This stayed absolutely stationary, which is what we both thought was so strange.

A geostationary orbit, also referred to as a geosynchronous equatorial orbit, is a circular geosynchronous orbit 35,786 kilometres above Earth's equator and following the direction of Earth's rotation.

I apologize for the thread abduction... :-)
