Plus a huge budget surplus. It's a very wealthy state due to the climate and desirability. They could double their state income tax and still be ok.

NY and NJ on the other hand...

CA will look at the price of your home in CA vs FL, the location of personal effects, dependents, and pets, visits to the doctor and dentist, and numerous other things outside of paperwork items like drivers license and voter registration in an audit.

It might just be a lot easier to simply rent in CA. If you plan on being in CA long term, come up with a different plan.

As my mom used to say, "do you think I was born yesterday?"...you are not the first guy to have this thought.

This subject tends to be the airline pilot equivalent of Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy.

Then who they gonna try and steal from??
We already have high taxes and people aren’t (excluding the banal anecdotes that will be the response) leaving. We will be okay.

You do realize of course that California contributes more to the federal government than most other states on a per dollar basis right? For every dollar ca pay in fed tax they get back less than poor ** states. I would much prefer those states raise their taxes and stop stealing from us.

I’m sure you see the irony of that statement when considering the converse, right?

As someone who isn't against redistribution, ouch, that hurt a little.
