Helps to live in base! Lots of low block, high credit 1-2 days. Mostly work 3 day lines so 8 days a month away for the line plus a couple nights for OT. Dialing the credit back this year and will make the same $ thanks to a good pay bump for yr 5 pay.
Edit: I’ll admit I don’t know Southwest’s pay per hour structure, but flying that much seems exhausting! My hat’s off to you guys! |

And somebody says this every year too (because it’s true)...

Lived in base $151k gross including DC retirement and per diem 300 hours block 77 overnights (majority in South America) 22 paid working days doing "cultural appreciation" down in Colombia I made some good memories, didn't have any unauthorized children, and never ended up in jail. So yeah, I'd say 2019 was a booming success. |

But it is an indicator of TAFB (Time Away From Base). So there’s value in the information.

Southwest FO
Year 2 (two months year 3) Live in base Gross Pay w/PD: $190,352 401K: $27,466 Total Comp: $217,818 Anticipate PS @ 10.5%: $19,226 Total Comp w/anticipated PS: $237,044 203 days on duty. Estimate 130-140 overnights. Approx 850 block hours. Try to play the game with low block turns and not get used on reserve when I can but otherwise just hustle. Reserve days not used are still counted as days on duty in that number. When I was looking to go to a major posts like this helped me out a lot. Hope this helps the next guy/gal. |

So your 830 hours was credit and not block hours (hours actually flown). I am confused as you are using intermixing language in this post vs. your last.... Credit = earned $ hour, block is hours FLOWN... You actually flew 830 hours this year??

I am not going to post my numbers but they track along with the other SWA FOs on this thread. I find this thread useful in many ways, and not just as a measuring contest. It helps when you see the norms and outliers at different companies to see what they can accomplish pay-wise and what they trade for QOL.
I wish us all a prosperous 2020. |
