Default UAL/DAL/AAL and New Contracts

Any estimates as to when we're going to see new contracts at the Big 3?

I know there's a few threads in the individual company forums, but for those who aren't at those companies and don't have their fingers on the pulse, are new contracts imminent or are they still many moons away?

many moons at Delta. The first negotiating session after the amendable date, Dec 31, 2019, Management withdrew from negotiations and requested that we jointly petition the NMB for help. They spun it that they want to accelerate the process, while DALPA says they didn’t want to make public their pay offer with a busy, short staffed summer approaching.

According to the union, they’ve only offered a total of $28 million in improvements on the sections that have been negotiated.

Same at AA. Delta profit sharing and 150m/year in QOL improvements have been offered by the company but it isn’t close to what the pilot group will accept.

The only thing I fear is that this bull market is going to end eventually. Maybe that’s their plan. Harder to get what we deserve in a down-sloping economy.

Curious when I’ve read over various contract talks . ESP when talking about the flying during last summers months . People talk about how crazy it was and how many premium / green slips were given etc , IMO company could care less until they actually start canceling flights due to no crews available.

At United summer can get crazy with the premium flying , and all the line people talk about how short we are , yet our cancel rate due to no crew is something tiny like .001 . So per the company we’re staffed just fine . I’ve read about Delta’s summer last year and how it was crazy, but were any flights cancelled ? Due to crews ?

Delta had a record low level of cancellation in 2019 and their clear scared of ending up with too many pilots once the max is back in the air.

Yes, cancelled for lack of crew.

Agreed. Get as much you can, WHILE YOU CAN.

It just makes ANY give/“concession” painful if (WHEN) it happens.

One of Jeffrey’s lasting legacies, he can run us like a regional staffing wise.

Its been proven, it’s simply “cheaper” understaffed I’m busy months and pay premium vs well staffed, then over staffed once busy months come.

When you take into account the big picture cost per pilot, etc.

I think this is exactly what they’re expecting. I just hope the economy keeps singing for a couple more years. I actually hope it keeps singing for another 30-40 years, but I know that’s just being irrational.
