From an nbaa email today. (LAS towner shut yesterday for staffing, MDW tower still inop)
All - due to staffing issues, Indianapolis Center (ZID) has had its eastern half go to an ATC Zero status. This means that no air traffic services are being provided by the eastern part of ZID above FL230.
At this time, overflight traffic is being routed around the area, via a set of required routes now in place (see the Current Reroutes page (https://www.fly.faa.gov/ratreader/jsp/index.jsp) for details.
Traffic below FL230 will be handled tower enroute for now. Departures from within ZID are being managed as "call for release" with ZID (meaning towers need to call ZID individually for each departure) - that traffic will then be routed via low altitude until clear of ZID.
We may see AFPs implemented at some point to help manage this, but those discussions have not yet been had.
The situation is fluid, so please stay tuned for more information.

KLAS Tower closed after someone tested positive for COVID19.
Now an uncontrolled field. One IFR plane at a time. Ye Gods.
JFK, MDW, ORD...all closed/open to some degree as controllers and techs test positive for COVID.
Best read the NOTAMS before trying land.

Are you guys allowed to Cancel IFR in the air? I know it's allowed by our FOM (SKYW), and can really help the crews following you to an uncontrolled airport. Makes some guys really uncomfortable, but others have no problem with it.
