Personally I don't see grants even being in the cards. Maybe some loan guarantees. Guessing the legacies will furlough 50% if not more ASAP. Hopefully the spin up will be quick and most will be back within a couple years if the companies survive, albeit the international ops are gonna be a lot smaller.

And yep, I'm well in that group.

The 10%-20% load factors are going to be a multi month long ordeal. When no one is buying your product, you don't need to supply it.

I don't think you furlough 50% when this hopefully is a moderately short term deal.

Sad but true. We will all know sooner rather than later.

Update senate republicans don’t want to pay protect with grants, dems in house do. Still a chance if that’s what you are hoping for.

Probably a compromise. Limited pay protections, maybe partial pay and/or bennies on furlough. I think it's going to be softer on labor than last time around.

It's going to depend on how much support the airlines get and how quickly they think a recovery will pick up steam. If they "over furlough" now that will cost them later. As long as the fed props them up enough so they can take a longer view, and are not facing chapter 7 in six weeks.

This. This is different than the auto industry bailouts. The public literally doesn’t need the product right now. No sense in subsidizing employees sitting around on empty planes.
