I agree, we’re doing this half-heartedly like we can’t make a decision. I do think, though, that if we went about our business normally, the economy would start to shut itself down once the infection and death rate soared. Maybe, maybe not, who knows? I just fly plans for a few more months.

well when the administration lets the experts talk it’s clear what needs to be done.. everything else is campaigning, touchy feely “aspirations”, and self-serving nonsense.

it’s almost as if half the nation lives in some type of fantasy land unbound by hard truths and facts

why are the parks not closed? Where I live you literally cannot do anything that requires access. Parks, beaches, boat ramps, trails all closed. We can’t even fish on our own boat in the ocean with just our family unit but people in Dallas are flooding parks with their kids? Anyone at the park should get furloughed first. Selfish bastards.

This will be a never ending cycle if cities arent all shut down....

I know!, it ****es me off more than I can express. What is the difference between California and Texas or Colorado....none!. We either do this as a country, or it's going to unnecessarily last way longer and it's going to destroy the economy.
I've heard people saying "you can't take my freedom!", when they're told to stay at home for 2 weeks....for real!!??

Colorado governor hit it on the head...

"The greatest generation stormed the beaches at Normandy and families turned in their pots and pans to be melted down. We’re asking you to give up getting a haircut or mani pedi for two weeks and to stay at home."

Agreed the country needs to come together.

Dang good for him, I'm DEN based but still stuck in Dallas, I should move back haha.

If in 2020, with netflix/hulu/prime video/youtube/cable TV with 400 channels and internet, you can't stay at home for 2 weeks....you do have a serious problem, WE do as a country.

with a stocked bar a TV and the internet I could stay in for a very extended period of time. I might not like it but I could.

It is admittedly much more difficult to do that in a small house with young kids. What if your parents told you as a kid you couldn’t go out and play with your friends indefinitely? Eventually the tension is going to build. I know why those people are at the park. I do. But they need to sack up and do the right thing. Period. I doesn’t help if only some of us are doing it.

The economy ain’t coming back if you open everything back up, gents. And neither are our jobs. This will only stop being a major disruptor when a vaccine is developed.
At today's White House briefing the 2 Doctors discussed the models they've run on the virus. With max precautions that most follow we'll still lose 100,000 to 200,000 (currently at around 2500 and over 1000 of those just in NY). Dropping the precautions or widespread ignoring of them will raise the death toll to 1.6M - 2M. They mentioned the peak is still about 2 weeks away. Not sure if they were talking about places where the virus is already running rampant or the entire country.

I'm not sure the $2.2T stimulus is even going to make a dent in the economic damage being done. But opening everything back up is going to be very costly in lives lost.

I'll put a link to the briefing below. It should start at 1:46 with Dr. Birx. Then the President mentions the lower end of expected deaths. Dr. Birx does mention they used multiple independent models.
