Default Diversification?

After the dust settles with the impact of COVID-19 do you think the legacy carriers will diversify into different avenues for revenue like Cargo? I know some of the international carriers like Lufthansa have their own cargo division. I feel like almost 3 decades of bankruptcy is a bad track record so far (Pan Am and TWA in the 90s, pretty much everyone in the 00’s, and who knows after COVID-19). I really don’t want to see the airlines nationalized by any means, but I don’t see any other alternative other than diversification to stay profitable in unprofitable times. Like it or not, something major will come along again in the future and if the carriers don’t change their ways the American taxpayer has to bail them out again.

Airlines wont be nationalized, one or two are going bye bye forever though.

Most of our majors carry quite a bit of cargo along with pax, just not dedicated freighters. Most countries don't have UPS, FEDEX, ATLAS, POLAR, AMAZON, SOUTHERN AIR, and KALITTA (apologies to the few US cargo carriers I missed) to compete with.

Phases to re-open, aka back to sanity are beginning. People are chomping at the bit for life and freedom. FL opens its beaches, boom they're packed. I hope for all of us its a sign of things to come and we can right this ship.

The beaches aren’t really packed, in fact they’re empty. News channels are showing old footage to try to discredit the politicians, but if you go to the live web cams there’s hardly anyone on them.

Similar story in Daytona Beach. Not exactly empty, but far from crowded.

Alright, apologies for the use of 'packed'. My point was people will get back to things and live their lives, hopefully getting back to their jobs, meaning we can all go back to flying, and in turn spin the economy back up. Just trying to keep a positive light and dump the doom and gloom kool-aid.

Yes but that narrative doesn't get you clicks, sell subscriptions, and dig FL residents who need to be punished for not electing the crystal meth partying, former mayor of Tallahassee as their governor.

Hahaha. Andrew Gillum. Can’t believe that guy was so close to becoming Florida’s next governor. Caught with prostitute in a puddle of his own vomit high on meth. Classic.

I know.....if you want to run in gay sex threesomes in Miami hotels while getting high on Meth and whatever......THEN DONT RUN FOR POLITICAL OFFICE. Stay on the "down low". Reminds me, sort of, like John Edwards, cheating on his cancer stricken wife and impregnating another woman on the opposite coast.....fine run your life the way you want, but NOT WHILE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.
Incredible hubris by some people.
