"Also, do the planes have lavatories?"

HAHA. I can see it now. As an added source of revenue, you have to deposit four quarters into a slot in the lav door to get it to unlock.

Horizon use to let FA's line share. Two FAs would pair up and joint bid on one line and fly it together. Each would get full benefits but only get paid for the trips they flew. It was a way of keeping FAs happy on 800/month.

The majors use to have much smaller min guarantees. It could easily happen.

Senior FAs will tell you how important their job is but basically in my opinion they are inflight beverage servers. Yes there is a saftety factor to it but in my experinece the onboard FAs is that I have a hard time believing they are the ones going to save anyone in a true emergancy. Not all Fas but most just seem a little um well - ditsy.

WOW!!! Something tells me that you don't fly with Flight Attendants. If you do, I hope they don't find out who you are. Just like ATC, you never know when you might need one when sh&t hits the fan. Think about this scenario: You just overran the runway and hit your head on the cockpit walls during the overrun. You're knocked out and the aircraft is on fire. See where I'm heading with this? I personally know a few that said if this did happen that they wouldn't be coming for the Skipper. Treat people how you want to be treated. As for me, I'm flying with the boxes now but you should watch what you say if you want help when the time comes. I flew with numerous flight attendants that had degrees and were bored with it so they decided to fly. Oh yeah, and some of them have a bottlomless gut when it came to partaking in layover duties of the fun kind. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/im...ons/icon10.gif I'm not trying to lecture here but I do want you to see where they are not just "ditzy."

"And Diffenderffer will turn his 18 Airbus A319 jets (by the end of 2008) into advertisements you can't miss. Companies such as insurer Nationwide will pay $500,000 annually to paste messages on the jet's outside, interior lavatory doors, seat-back trays, bulkheads and overhead storage containers."

ALPA needs to start calling ANY company that advertises with skybus and has union employees.

Polarfr8dog-
yes you are right- many FAs are highly skilled airline employees, that is why I said "Not all Fas." Times are also changing where airlines are no longer looking for skilled FAS but simply someone to fill the position at the cheapest rate. I apoplogize if I didnt stress enough that there are some out there whom are total professionals, but it does seem that many out there couldn't handle emergancy situations that well. Thats all. I have many FA friends that are true professionals but just like pilots their pay is being cut down and so the new recruits that want to work for little seem a little unqualified for the position.
Once again not all FAS are ditzy.

Absolutely... Besides, you've been to the public restrooms in Germany where you pay to use them right... That will make Skybus feel close to the EU.

Working for commission....I know that Allegiant FA's work on the same principle. A low base pay and then a percentage of sales. Works for the FA's on some flights but not too well for others. I dont really care for it. Just what we need...FAs pouring more alcohol down someones throat just to make another sale.

"in our future" yeah, only if Dumba$$, moron, pilots like you (and others), are willing to fly for a "Scum-bag, Piece of crap" airline like this.

Personally, I believe that every major airline out there should have a 'pilot review board' as the final decision in their interview process (some already do); and if anyone comes before that 'board' with "scumbus" on their resume, it is an 'automatic thumbs down' I know that would be my vote/view/decision.

Just a thought to all of the 'would-be ScumBus' pilot wannabes, what I outlined above may be in the future, if I have anything to say, it will. Years ago, the 'rank and file' pilot group at the majors used to have more say in who got hired, and hope that it goes back to that way. And, I already stated how I would 'decide' as I would have to Seriously question a pilot's 'judgement' if he would ever make such a truly 'Dumba$$' career decision???

And, before anyone 'rants' on about 'having to take a just like ScumBus'?? Early on in their hiring process, (last fall), they called me and emailed me, Never sent them a resume (guess they got my name/qualifications from an online database); and I was 'unemployed' at the time. I turned them down, stayed unemployed, and have since gotten a better, more respectable pilot job; told them to take a 'flying leap' (no pun intended), I just have 'standards and respect for myself as a professional'

SkyHigh, I guess that you DO NOT!!

Just my thoughts, and feel free to 'rant' away.

Why, yes I have, and that's why I had the thought, I'm sure.

There was this time near the DOM in Cologne. I really had to go. But I'm an American, damit, and nobody should have to pay to pee.

So...I held until I got back to the Maritim.

For many aviation has become a working hobby. If the conditions were right and one could still fly while earning a real living outside of their flying job then why not do it? I believe that if management were smart they could lure plenty of gainfully employed non-flying pilots back if they were to relax the work rules a bit.

How does one show respect for ones self? Being a slave to management and union or having thier own source of income and the power to say "no". I believe that in 20 years companies like Skybus will be the norm and in trade for huge salaries they will offer more flexibility and more control in ones life. I hope so. Maybe it will bring back a little bit if the fun this industry is missing.

90 hours a month is not fun.
