Heros Act Removes OCT 1st No Furlough Clause

I haven't heard anyone talking about this. If the Hero's Act passes as is, it will remove the No Furlough clause attached to the stimulus grant money and replace it with "the date on which such financial assistance is exhausted by the air carrier." Under Titile-V PANDEMIC RELIEF FOR AVIATION WORKERS AND PASSENGERS

Well thankfully it isn’t going to pass. Dead on arrival I believe is the term used

Not going to pass since the majority of it has nothing to do with the crisis or economic recovery.

Wouldn’t that mean they wouldn’t be allowed to furlough until after the grant AND loan funds are used up? In other words, probably later than October 1? But, yes, a moot point since it doesn’t look like this honey-pot of goodies is headed anywhere soon.

From what I read, it wouldn’t remove the furlough protection until October. All it would do is extend the no furlough protections beyond that until the company had depleted their CAREs act grant money. Being that the money doesn’t cover 100% of the expenses and will be long gone by October, this act is irrelevant.

It very likely won't pass, but it shows how the authors are thinking. They can also remove non stimulus related items and put it to vote again.

Never let a crisis go to waste. Thankfully this isn't going to pass.

Do we have to agree with every decision ALPA makes?

They have an obligation to support the narrow, best interests of airline pilots. Short-term trumps long-term considerations if it comes to that. They don't really consider larger societal issues, or anyone's personal partisan politics. Just how it works.
