Why people don’t want to fly
Headline:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/least-50-...215850608.html
At least 50 cases of coronavirus linked to surgeon flying from New York City to LA
In actuality no one on the flight caught Covid. The transmission was to the residents of the dementia treatment facility he flew out to for treatment. He had symptoms on arrival and they still let him circulate with the general population. The headline takes the cake in miss leading people.https://www.yahoo.com/news/least-50-...215850608.html

I want to know what American Airlines aircraft holds 500 people.
“The other 499 passengers on the flight were not informed by health officials that the former surgeon had previously been exposed to Covid-19.”
And seeing as how this happened in April i would say it why people were afraid to fly. Looks like people are starting to either lose that fear or are just done caring about what happens with Covid-19.
it also says the 50 people that got infected were at the nursing home, not from the flight. Nice click-bait though.

The media loves to use the phrase “exposed to Covid”
Very misleading. A lot of people immediately assume that you now have dozens of people fighting for their lives on ventilators when in actuality you might have one guy with a bit of a fever and cough and everyone else didn’t catch it.
I’m optimistic when I see busy restaurant patios but I do DoorDash pretty frequently and between a third to half my deliveries are contactless. Those people aren’t getting on an airplane anytime soon.

Here some other reasons people don't want to fly:
- driving with idiots trying to get to the airport on time
- getting yelled at by "Traffic enforcement" if you take too long to unload your bags from your car or say bye to loved ones
- having to deal with a kiosk that doesn't work
- getting yelled at by the ticket agent because your bag is overweight and then having to rearrange your luggage in front of everyone
- being upcharged for every possible item
- standing in line half an hour for TSA
- getting pornoscanned / nuked and then getting your junk groped by TSA because after all you're probably a criminal (land of the free, right?)
- having to rush to the gate because TSA took 3 times longer than it should
- getting to the gate and being forced to listen to CNN penetrate your eardrums at full volume while waiting to board
- having to pay 2 or 3 times as much than you otherwise wood for food and drink in the terminal because you're not allowed to bring it through TSA
- having to sit through the gate agents rambling about such and such mileage points credit card detail offer
- having to line up everyone getting on the plane at once and stand around for another 30 minutes on the jetway because the gate agent wants to have everyone in line during the boarding process
- being told your carry on has to be stowed in the cargo bin
- being cramped in smaller seats than what federal prisoners are legally allowed to have
- being delayed and sitting on the tarmac due to poor ATC management of the national airspace
- being forced to listen to yet another credit card offer from a rambling FA
And this is all before the plane even takes off. I haven't even mentioned the other passengers, being charged expensive prices for food or drinks, having the lights turned on before landing to wake you up, having to wait another 20 minutes to get off the plane once parked and the APU is off, having to wait 20 minutes again in baggage claim for your luggage, etc.
Is it any wonder the general public just loves to fly so much?

As far as I’m concerned, Sonic Flyer nailed it. Flying as a passenger is a miserable experience. One of my goals when I retire is to never again set foot on a commercial airliner. If I can’t drive or fly myself, I’d rather not go.

I’ve been doing this for two decades.
I still enjoy flying as a passenger on long flights and look forward to vacations.
Ill happily fly to far off destinations and explore instead of sitting on my couch complaining about how bad air travel is.

While SonicFlyer had an interesting list of grievances, are they really that bad that people won’t fly? No. Maybe if you were flying every week.
Having to deal with drivers?
Being forced to listen to a sales pitch?
Standing in a line?
Paying too much for food?
Sounds to me like a trip to Disneyland.
I don’t know.
