The US Airways pilots have forms going around to dump ALPA and bring in the teamsters. Needless to say they are a little peeved with the seniority merger.. how does at 10 year AWA guy end up senior to a 20+ year Airways guy... it is truely beyond me. I could understand if it were a takeover or buyout.. but it was a MERGER.. great job ALPA.. Cpt Prater is my hero

yeah but dont forget, without AWA US Air guys wouldn't have a job....................period, needless to say it seems ALPA is really only good at getting guys jobs back who have no place in the 121 world................ I am for ALPA, dont get me wrong but I have not seen them do one thing as of recent that makes me feel like they are "Taking it back"

YHGTBSM!

I was in PHL in 2004/2005... I flew on Xmas day 2004. Airways was 100% F-ed, they were goners and everybody knew it. I already had another job lined up. Whatever you think about the seniority integretation, get your facts straight: AWA bought airways at a fire sale...this was an ACQUISITION, not a "merger".

AWA bought nothing. Outside money used AWA as an agent to acquire USAir. AWA invested NOTHING for this "merger." Or so I'm told. Perhaps someone else can illuminate facts on this aspect of the deal.

Maybe, maybe not...............

Lets say for argument sake that USAir went out of business overnight.
Jets parked everywhere and 120,000 people out of work. It wouldn't have happend that way in my opinion but for arguaments sake lets say it did.

PHL, CLT would have been like a ghostown. PIT too.

That is when the firsesale would have started.
In my opinion, SWA would have moved into PHL and CLT so fast it would have made your head spin. They would have snapped up USairs 737's, Gates and Slots as fast as they could.

Delta, UAL and AMR , NWA would have battled over USAir's slots and Gates in DCA, LGA and BOS.

Where would have America West fit into all of this................?
Think America West would have had the money to out bid SWA or even the DAL and UAL in bankruptcy??

Nope, like it or not, the Cactus folks future got a whole lot brighter because of what USAir brought them.
