Going to big iron

Hello

I have a question for the big iron pilots. Does one need to fly at the regional to basically have a shot, or would they honestly consider a freight dog. i am not sure which way to go. i have been flying freight for some time, pic turbine in a metro. good ratios of flight time, no violations. I'm in my 30's and not quit sure what to do, it's a pretty tough decision to go to a regional and take the huge pay cut or hold out and see what happens. looking for some advice from exprienced pilots, thanks alot:confused:

Well many of the people that the Majors are hiring are from regionals.
Looking at what you are doing also more than qualifies you except for a few places. There were a few people that have been hired at DAL with your type of experience. I would put in an app and give it a try. It never hurts anything to try.

I agree. If you meet the mins, apply. The hard thing (I think) about being a freight pilot is meeting pilots already at your career choice destination airline that will recommend you. Getting an internal recommedation or two is still key, at least at the majors. One of the reasons so many regional airline pilots get hired at majors (other than the regionals being the largest pool of pilots available to the majors) is that so many have already been hired and are recommending people they know.
