Why would you get an airline perks card when we can all basically fly for free? If you get a branded card get a hotel card. We switched from Amex Platinum to Gold. Weren’t utilizing all the benefits of the platinum (young kid) to make up the yearly fee difference.

You may already know this but the AMEX Platinum and Gold is considered a charge card, so you would be required to pay it off every month, unless you use to pay over time feature. The APR wouldn't really make a difference.
