No kids and no wife and schools not an issue. Have fun and live near the beach.

Kids and schools matter? Shoot yourself or live in palm beach county and even then only select areas. Traffic to MIA will have you thinking about commuting by air.

I would steer clear of the suburbs. It's not that those areas are terrible or dangerous (although some are), they're just very much Latin dominated and also very insular. You're gonna be the odd man out if you're non-Hispanic and can't speak conversational Spanish.

Props to you on being single with no kids as Miami is best done as a single person IMO. Just do it right...get a nice place in the happening spot of town, hang out for a year or two, and then get the hell out. Nothing about the city is setup for longterm enjoyment and it will drive your soul into the dirt after awhile.

Bienvenido a Miami! The scenery is beautiful, the egos run sky high, and the yoga pants are on a whole different level of tightness that you didn't even know existed. Enjoy!
Can confirm this haha

Brickell or the up-and-coming Wynwood. Single, no kids and Miami. I'm envious. Tear it up. Oh and you may want to get your carry permit.

Yeah, but come correct and don't come at all. Miami is one big playground for the fit and wealthy crowd.

There two shootings near my crash pad in Miami in 6 months. Its not the "Colombians" I'm afraid of. Its the morons who think they are scarface.

It's a Florida thing...one minute you're driving through a ritzy neighborhood, turn a corner, and then bam there's the hood. This is a problem in every major Florida city from my experience, with Orlando being the worst.

Good luck on getting a concealed carry permit in COVID times. I've been waiting 3+ months for mine.

If you don’t mind the drive, palm beach, the keys or Naples are your best bets. For the typical airline pilot characteristics, Miami is probably the worst place in the country to live.
