Default Bose Proflight - custom ear molds?

I've been using my Proflights for a few months and I'm really happy with them.

I was thinking about getting the custom ear molds for them. My hope is a better fit and that I might be able to use the headsets in a piston single. I'm guessing the custom ear molds would provide enough attenuation for that?

Anyone have experience with the ear molds?

I haven't tried those but I have been hesitant to buy the proflights due to past experience with other Bose in ear products. This would change that.

I used my proflight in a piston single a few weeks ago. It actually did a pretty decent job with the oe earbuds. That being said, I am considering getting the custom ear molds

Flew with a guy a little while back who loved them. Said it is worth it to spend the extra to go to an audiologist to get the deep ear impressions

I have earmolds…they are better than the plugs. They take some getting accustomed to…they might make your ear sore the first few times.

You must get “deep” impressions…meaning the plug goes far into your ear canal. As such, putting them into the ear requires some technique…I have to face the top of the plug forward, insert, then twist out and up. Practice when you get them before you put them on the headset and you’ll figure it out.

Is there a significantly noticeable difference in noise attenuation? My proflight buds let through a decent amount of wind noise that I would love to cut down.

After you get used the the molds, do you find it more comfortable than the originals?

Used custom molds some time back. They work ok if they’re fitted correctly. If not, they’ll make your ear hurt like a SOB.

Mine were made with the old school plastic, and were surprisingly heavy.

I had the deep impressions done. BE CAREFUL putting them in. The little clips that hold the Bose original ear pieces in are known to snap while putting the custom ones on. Mine snapped and Bose covered it. For the sound quality...Honestly mine sucked. The ANR seemed like it no longer worked, and the clarity was bad. It sounded like I was talking inside of a bathroom, almost like an echo. I stopped using them, then COVID hit and I never heard back from the company to see if I can make them better somehow.
