Kirby gave an interview several weeks ago saying single-class 50 seat would be used exclusively in those markets that couldn’t support anything bigger. And that those markets might lose service

Last week they killed a dozen 50 seat markets. Yesterday he said it was due to lack of pilots

50 seaters are unlikely to survive another year… except MAYBE piedmont

No way they catch up by spring, maybe by the end of 2022. Summer 22 is going to be PP crazy!

The last vacancy had 800+ unfilled with another December vacancy to come.

1 year upgrades on the December vacancy.

Regardless of how many of these new deliveries are growth vs replacements, the training center will be maxed out. Taking a record number of deliveries while simultaneously hiring a record number of pilots should generate a ton of premium trips, mostly on the 737.

The company always adds huge FO bids to cover new hires (when we’re hiring that is) classes for the next quarter… so 600-800 new hires coming in spring/summer is about right. Company always heavy on PP in the summer due to Sick (aka Summer) Vacation… look at the SSC report towards the back… you’ll see how much PP decreased since August.

in any case… I hope your right on PP next summer!

The number of vacancies certainly points to a lot of hiring but I wouldn’t extrapolate based on the data. Most of them will expire before they can be used. The actually new hire plan is driven by training capacity and the company is motivated to create enough vacancies in every category to. It run out of training slots.

At the same time there are no costs for the company to create vacancies. Nothing stops them for having 1,000 SFO 737 FO slots on the vacancy. Voila here is your MOAB if only measured in terms of total open positions.

Kirby just ordered 200 737 MAX-discomfort aircraft, Delta is buying comfy A220s. Not sure what he means by "quality"

Delta is buying used 737s from Lion Air. Not sure what you mean by quality?

Also, please tell me what the aircraft type has to do with the interior the airline decides to put in it.
