Nope, JFK. LAX is abysmal though, I'll definitely agree to that. Their pairings are probably the worst in the system.
And, of course, within hours of my post, I got two trips with redeyes in my awards. Our pairings have become total ****e over the last six months. Hopefully I'll be able to trade/swap/drop them away.

What’s a shift at the bank, 8 hours? Good luck being able to find an airline that doesn’t do 12 hour duty days…

More to the Caribbean… get hired on with one of those island hopper Airlines. Never do a red eye again.

I think the bottom line is that if you want banker’s hours, then you should get hired by a bank.

You need to get real with yourself about what the transportation industry is and is not. Unless you can magically generate yourself years of seniority at an airline, you’re not going to get banker’s hours or day trips only (which would be incredibly stupid anyway, if you’re driving from Temecula).

If you want to do banner towing or discovery flights or tour flights, then maybe you’ll see better hours, but the airline industry is not the droid you’re looking for.

^^^^^^Pretty much what I was getting at.

Between my mil retirement and my wife’s salary I could move to texas and never work a day in my life if I want so trying to decide if the airline life is worth it.
Well, with that in mind, you SHOULD have some "mil bubbas" that went to the airlines.

And you'll be hard pressed for one to tell you that even his crappiest day/schedule at the airlines beats the mil most days. The long hours, getting shot at, death by power point, having to wear a reflective vest to exercise, "careerism", getting a O-whatever promotion/staff job that really just has you being the General's coffee beyatch, what have you....

Never mind the 17-18-19 days off a month, getting to spend time with the family that you probably didn't have in the mil, time for hobbies, vacations, whatever that actually makes the occassional redeye not even an issue. All the while getting paid/free transportation from happy hour to happy hour...

people are funny. We’ve got this guy looking for bankers hours. over in the regionals thread there is a guy looking for no overnights at a regional. Some folks need to be looking at other careers.

Might check around and see if you can get a cushy part 91 gig in SoCal. Good luck.

LAX was absolute garbage when I was at B6 (thats why I bailed after 4 years), and I’ve heard your sentiment echoed from some of the bros that held out. To the OP, if you’re looking for LAX, stay away from JetBlue. As many have said, it’s hard to dodge redeyes entirely as a junior guy… It’ll come, but you’re likely to get your fair share initially.

Too late to edit, but it’s better at Delta. There are still redeyes… You just have the ability to yellow slip/avoid in favor of better trips. As a bottom 20% guy I can avoid redeye flights if I like (for the most part).
