The company replies pilots don’t need vacation they sell it all back anyway!!
Vacation should be sacred.

I’ll buy some if that. It should be pointed out these res schedules are not typical and we’re designed to maintain the ability to either make a ton of credit or produce over a month off in a vacation month when we transitioned from line biding to pbs. It does that and goes fairly senior. The average vac day drop with line biding was 4.9 and we got 5 credit to apply to a vac day in pbs so a slight gain there. Jb and nk also got the 5 credit so I don’t see that as a problem to maintain. The 5 credit along with the fact it accumulates faster than any pax carrier offsets some of the companies productivity gains. Assuming the majority of pilots are going with the time off.

Please help me with a few questions!

1. What airline?
2. What is your credit per day for rsv?
3. How many days of rsv per month?
4. What is the earliest you can start on day 1 of rsv.
5. Any other important rules we should acknowledge and build upon?

If you're for the United ta, please don't use this post to argue. I'm looking for facts and data that my union had failed to provide us.

1. F9
2. Reserve days dont have a daily credit per se, they can be dropped at 4:00 per day and monthly guarantee is 75 hours
3. 12 days off, FDO lines get 13 days off in a 31 day month
4. Depends on shift. LC has 12 hour call out, so noon on day 1, SC depends on your shift, 2 hour call out, A-0300, B-0800, C-1200, D-1700, E-1900. LC released at 1000 on last day if no assignment prior
5. No moveable days off for reserves, no JA, no airport reserve, reserve pilots can aggressive bid for trips the day prior (with some limitations) FDO lines have all days off in a single block (117 rest assigned by company, must occur in domicile), as the earlier poster said, reserves can fly on days off or vacation and all credit added goes on top of guarantee,

Default Ual ta? Rsv rules at your airline?

JB

We have long call lines and short call lines. 75 guarantee. If you go over 75 hours the company has to either drop your remaining rsv days or pay you 4:12 for each additional day you sit rsv(companies choice) or of course actual hours block.

LCR - 12 days off in 30 day months/ 13 in 31
SCR - 13 in 30 days/ 14 in 31

LCR earliest start time is 1400 day 1
SCR earliest start time is 1000 day 1

LCR can only be converted to SCR 5 times in a month($100 each conversion), can not be converted to SCR before 1400 day 1.

LCR 14 hour call out
SCR 2.5 hour call out

At 0300 the day before(Sunday), all know open time, reserve conversions and reserve start times, are assigned for the following day(Monday).

Assigned to LCR first if they are available.

You can bid and move reserve days to create blocks longer than 7 days, and the company is then responsible for assigning you a 30 hour rest period. It’s a great way to snag two extra 30 hour blocks off if you can stand being on all for 7 straight.

*Disclaimer, I'm still in training, but this is all straight out of the contract.

1. SW
2. 6 tfp per day of unused RSV
3. 16 days / 31 day month - 15 days / 29/30 day month - 14 days / 28 day month (minimum 3 days off between RSV blocks)
4. Stupid early reports

SWA reserve also has AM or PM blocks. Two hour call out gets paid close-in parking. Pilots can choose pass or fly in a preference, or choose to “own”’a trip so a line pilot can’t take it. Last day of reserve a pilot can be released after 7 hours if unassigned.

Check your schedule on the last day off between 3pm and 6pm. Earliest day one departure is 0600. Notice: 10 hours before SC, 12 hours before SC assigned at/after 6pm, 12 hours before field standby, 13 hours before departure. A sprinkling of add pay (1 or 2 hours) for scheduling shenanigans.

I still don’t get how FSB is still in the books for you guys. That single work rule is devastating to QOL for reserve pilots. Or maybe i don’t understand how it’s used.

Simple. You know how every time at Delta when you touch ATL, you run a decent chance of getting rerouted?? At United, those flights are often covered by FSB, thus we run a lower chance of getting rerouted. It does happen, but far less than it would without FSB’s in place.
