Default Ual ta? Rsv rules at your airline?

Hey guys. Trying to get a grasp on the new ta at United in regards to rsv rules changing for the worse. I honestly want to compare what others have. FACTS, NOT FEELINGS. I know it's not everything but should be considered.

Please help me with a few questions!

1. What airline?
2. What is your credit per day for rsv?
3. How many days of rsv per month?
4. What is the earliest you can start on day 1 of rsv.
5. Any other important rules we should acknowledge and build upon?

If you're for the United ta, please don't use this post to argue. I'm looking for facts and data that my union had failed to provide us.

1 delta
2 varies. Reserve line credit (alv-2, not less than 72, not more than 80) divided by total reserve days.
3 anywhere from 16-18 days of reserve per month depending on alv and percentage of pilots in category on reserve
4 earliest day 1 start is 10 am of trip assigned before 9 hours from the end of an xday (non fly day)
5 once you meet the reserve guarantee for the month you have no further obligation to the company. Trips picked up on day off get you trip credit above reserve guarantee plus your days off that you worked placed on your next reserve day.

Thank you.
So if you have 18 days of rsv, is your credit 80 hours? 4:44 per day? Or what would the range be? At Ual we currently get 4:03 per day and the ta keeps that and allows us to start at 5 am. No more 10:00 first day.

American? JetBlue?. What do your guys have?

Yes, i believe that’s how it is calculated. And it is prorated in months when you have vacation or training or any other preposted credit.

75 hour guarantee.

You can drop and swap rsv days on Flica (like everything in life .. if staffing allows ).

Long calls get used first. Short calls are being kept around for last minute staff.
company can only convert your from LC to SC x amount of days per month.

Any amount of flying on your days off comes on top of guarantee. You can pick up in base and out of base.

You can pick up flying in OT on your reserve days.

Then we have reserve lines with two weeks off two weeks reserve (ish). So if you put two weeks vaca on that you have a 75 hour month with 31 days off .. now build yourself a line you end up with 200+ credit .. (remember everything over 82 hours credit pays out at 125%…) so some people make insane money. Me otoh I ride my bike and read at the pool.

Honestly for Captains (right now) living in base SC is great .. My pool guy asked me why I’m home so much and my wife is damn near tempted to assign me a trip .. That being said our FOs are abused every day. But I believe this is every airline in America..

1. AA
2. 73 LC/ 76 SC, with some caveats, so 4:13/4:03
3. 18, with some caveats
4. LC can’t sign in before noon (so 1pm departure) on first day, since it’s a 12 hour call-out and none of that check your schedule on a day off silliness like UAL. SC do a secondary bid for RAPs, so depends on what you bid for and were awarded
5. Sick if Needed can be a very useful tool. If not used after 6 hours of RAP on last reserve day you’re auto-released. Latest a LC can be used on last day is 10am. Premium Reseve (150%) and Over Guarantee (100%) flying pays on top of reserve gurantee.

Overall I’d say Delta has the best reserve rules by virtue of their payback days (and ability to “roll thunder”), and ability to bid one big block of reseve days. AA is slightly behind. UAL brings up the rear with their airport standby alone.

it’s important to note that (5) is only for trips awarded through the premium pay process. Straight pay trips on days off only accumulate towards guarantee and do not give payback days

Please don’t tell me you are saying you can work on vacation days?

is that a problem? If you don’t want to simply don’t pick up. Options in life and in contracts are a good thing.

It’s a massive productivity improvement for the company. That means slower advancement and less pay throughout your career. Your example means they need one less pilot for that month. More important than that however is when you try and improve vacation or avoid company demands to reduce it you have lost negotiating leverage. You look the mediator in the eye and explain in a lifestyle where sleep and fatigue are constants vacation is critical to health, safety and just the ability to recharge. The company replies pilots don’t need vacation they sell it all back anyway!!
Vacation should be sacred.
