Having the engines not where they belong actually made the airplane more fuel efficient, an efficiency that Boeing didn't want to give up for the MAX-10, which is why the MAX-10 engines are in front of the wing just like the other MAX aircraft.

The articulating landing gear is to provide tail clearance on takeoff. The MAX 10 has the same ground height when parked, taxing, or doing anything else that doesn't involve takeoff.
