This already happened where I live about 6 months ago. Less frequency AND less seats. They simply dropped the RJs that were normal pre-COVID and kept the mainline. The frequency issue is a nuisance, but I could care less if I miss a trip. I haven’t missed a flight option, though, so it really hasn’t affected things.

We are different in that regard... many commute to allow the wife/fam to be near their social support system while you're gone chasing raises, upgrades, and better jobs at new domciles.

The people with real jobs typically don't drag their wife out of her eco-system, away from friends and family, drop her in a new town and then leave on a 4-day trip

I moved my kids all over the country in the military. I feel grateful I can commute at the airlines to provide stability to my family. They are by my wife’s family and my family. They are flourishing in our non domicile city. My wife has a 6 figure job and has better insurance than Delta does. Commuting sucks but it’s totally worth it.
I don’t think I would ever leave delta. It’s a great place most of the time (minus contract season). I’ve been here too long and timed the wave right. That said, I would easily downgrade aircraft or sit right seat again if a domicile opened up nearby. So, I understand. You just need to make a pro/con list and decide for yourself. Commuting can be a beneficial two way street. It’s not for everyone but it isn’t the Devil some people make it out to me. I’ve read so many books now while commuting some people might consider me cultured. Books without pictures too.
