he should have said 1991 for captain. The bottom captain in LAX for the latest projection is about seniority 3200, which is a 91 hire.

I thought they had the 737 over there as well? If so, whats the junior guy DOH?

no, right now the only aircraft based at LAX are the 767 and 765. (the 765 is what the category is called for the 767-400)

Tomcat 07-04-2007 09:50 AM

I'm not sure what the bottom seniority number is at LAX, but my hire date is July, 2000 and I'm 130/145 for the 767 FO position. I imagine that we will see movement in the catagory later this year (just my personal guess). The C level execs say were developing our feed so that we can eventually turn LAX into an international base. Currently we have outsourced much of this flying to Executive Jet (? not the Fractional Guys) and the EMB-145 to help developing these routes. Once these routes are developed, I can see more narrow body flying at LAX. Long story short, most of the pilot group sees a bright future for the base. The good news for guys that want to be in SoCal is that because of the cost of housing, not many guys are going to pick their families up from ATL and move to SoCal. I don't consider it commutable, but we'll have a few guys make the commute to hold a junior captain seat if we do eventually get some norrow-body flying. The word is that 2008 is the year for LAX. FWIW!

Just looked it up.... the junior LAX FO is flying the 767 and was hired Feb '01..

Just FYI: Thats ExpressJet - formerly known as the wholly owned subsidiary Continental Express. Heard on the radio as Jetlink.

I see you are flying an EMB-170.......... how much you get paid to fly that thing?

****

I just think its funny that a large majority of them are clueless as to what has been happening in the regional industry, especially those regionals that are doing flying for them...............After all, people like you flying the 170 is taking away from their QOL/Potential pay............. but what do I know..............

Hey, I was just trying to help out... Are you that sensitive on the flight deck? I've had the good furtune of flying military, GA, corporate and at a major, just happened to miss out on the regionals. Wouldn't mind flying a EMB-190 or 195 someday. They are both on our payscales in this contract. Don't know if we'll buy them of a variant of the 737, but we're in the hunt for a 100 seater for the mainline. For the time being, I'm having a great time flying the 767 out of LAX.

For all you guys at ExpressJet, no offense meant. I hope things work at well for you......

Cheers,

Tomcat

I am not offended, didint mean to come off that way, just think its interesting , how divided the major/regional world is, thats all, what is the pay for the 190/195 going to be, hopefully right there with the 737...................

Tomcat 07-06-2007 04:00 PM

No worries. I know that some guys think that just because we're sitting in that big old 767 that it's been easy cruising, but most of us have a story to tell. I really fought to get to where I am, and would like to see things improve for all of us. After all, if the regionals made more money, then perhaps the majors wouldn't farm out so much of their flying, then the guys at the regionals could have more seats in the majors to move to. Better work rules, QOL, $$$, etc. I think that management has found that they have taken as much as they can from all of us. Time to rebuild, and we can do that buy trying to support each other a little more.

Our union negotiated the smaller aircraft so that we could get them on our contract and then negotiate higher pay scales later. You'll notice that the scale are close to competitive with Comairs old payscale.

Rates are for 12year pilots-Capt/FO

EMB-190/CRJ-900 - 97.14/66.35
EMB-195 - 114.19/77.99
737-700 - 136.01/92.89
737-800 - 151.15/103.24

Word is that we're doing very well right now and making a solid profit with high loads and revenue. If we hit or financial targets, we'll recieve a 6% increase Jan'08 and 6% Jan'09. It's incremental adjusted down for a smaller profit margin. Contract is renewable 2010.

We have new pilots coming in the front door, aircraft are arriving soon with orders and additional routes in the near future. Our revenue and route developement guys are true "airline guys" and not bean counters. They are on fire and want the company to be a great success. All in all things look very bright over here. Instead of "pulling up the rope", I hope we can all make our lives a little bit more financially rewarding over the next couple of years.

I really want to see the industry get better not just for me and my family, but for you as well. Best of luck!!!!

Respectfully,
Tomcat

Is ATL possible fresh out of class for someone not trying to hold a "heavy"?
