I think you are kidding yourself. Our pilot group hasn't changed a bit in the last 20 years. Pilots are still willing to do whatever is forced on them for fear of not being able to fly airplanes.
The scabs are not the reason the last POS 02 contract passed. Just as many junior pilots were responsible same as senior "about to leave" pilots.
Whatever the company gives us is what this pilot group will vote yes for. CAL is a good place to be but don't ever think an industry leading or even an industry standard contract looms on the horizon.
I get tickeled just thinking about it.
BTW, I voted no on 97 and 02.
And as a Ca I will never put out my CC for anything...period! The company can have a crew scheduling superviser do that.
Ironically, the union is saying sleeping on an airplane is unacceptable and to not do it. What kills me is some F^&%$ing crew did it and then complained about it.
I would have told the scheduler to go pound sand. I'll sleep on the plane and when you find me a hotel, have ramp wake me up and I'll then go start my rest period at the hotel. If it takes you 8 hours to find a hotel, fine, then I'll at least be well rested for the van drive to the hotel to start my rest period.
I'd love to know who the crew was that even agreed to do this and then have the audacity to complain about it.

I am voting NO to whatever crap offering the company decides to grace us with. Pay needs to increase, work rules need to improve, PBS needs to be ****canned or at least massively overhauled. I prefer to ****can it. Hopefully our junior pilot group is better this time around. My old man is a DAL pilot who has never voted yes to any contract and my impression of the influx of XJET guys is that they are militant and worked for a good contract at XJET. So I think this time around we should be better off.
ps didn't the top 2 at CAL split $26 million this past year while the rest of the employee group split $111 million. that seems like a better deal than steenland's 4 year $26 million at NWA. I could be wrong, it's second hand info.

Not every one of us are wimps. My job now is to build a credible strike treat so we will have leverage to negotiate a real contract. Care to volunteer?
Care to make a bet on the unity and resolve of our fellow union brothers and sisters?

Been there, done that on many levels of the IACP and CAL-ALPO. Even got a watch for my efforts.
Not as long as the union office is located in Houston and filled with management wanna bees who want to make 20-25% more than line pilots but never want to fly the line anymore.

I have no patience for the "All Talk" no action types. I see CAL going this direction like all the rest (especially in the regional ranks).
It would be best to follow the Senior CAL individuals that choose to take a stand, however with the influx of close to 5000+ newbies over the next 10 years, I believe that many will vote "Job Security" vs. take a stand. Wimps, I agree, but the world is filled with drones.
