The corporate culture at CAL is basically a legacy of Lorenzo. All labor is labor and all management is King. This has been the axiom of our country since the early 80's when the average CEO made 42 x's the average employee's salary. That ratio is now more than 420 x's the average employee salary. CAL's a great company......after a while, you don't even miss respect anymore.

I'm no Bush fan, but the President has very little to do with airline salaries. The fact is that when airlines are losing billions of dollars, they are going to cut wages, benefits, work rules, etc. The other main factor is that many pilots seem to be willing to work for peanuts just to fly for a living.

It is not the government's job to force companies to pay you above your market worth.
Agree with evertyhing you said, but all regulation really did was artificially inflate profits and allow labor to hold airlines hostage for more money. I think we have ourselves to blame as much as the government.
