My perspective on CAL
 

To all you CAL aviators out there. I had the opportunity to dead head on NWA (MSP-AMS), KLM (AMS-DBX), and CAL (GUM-HNL) in the past week. The best service, from a passengers perspective, was CAL by a long shot. Pass on to you flight crews that you are doing things right. No airline is perfect, and because we are airline pilots we are going to bi-ch no matter what---BUT, if given the choice I would fly with CAL again and avoid KLM and NWA if my schedule allowed. When I say best service I mean -- friendliest flight attendents, best food, the folks working the flight really seemed to care. Keep up the good work and thanks.

Thats because you are NOT a employee of CAL, they treat there own like sh@t.

CAL has never treated me like sh!t. But the pilot group has never stood up to make them treat me better. Big difference.

And I noticed you are former CALX more than likly with an ATR 42/72 and EMB-145 types. Could it be you were turned down or passed over by CAL? Don't blame CAL, the union allowed the split. CALX pre-97 had it all set up for one list at some point. For what it is worth, it should have been one list.

I've never been treated poorly by CAL. Nor have I experienced the things that are on the other thread. That's on the 737 or 757. I have been treated that way by Express (old Express from the '90's, not later Express- they improved a whole lot!). I've never even been Junior manned at CAL. At Express (old Express) they got me five times in one month without calling me! They got you as you walk off the plane.

There are bad days and unusual circumstances, they are not the norm.

I think he meant the F/A's and gate agents, not the company people like Crew Schedulers and Crew trackers and such........

I'm not knocking CAL. But a few things, I'm guessing you were on a company DH, and in First Class? In other words, they did not know you were an airline employee, unless you told them, you were in uniform (doubt that one), or they saw your crew tags?

If you were in coach, it may have been a different story riding on ANY U.S. legacy going international.

The best service/food I had on int'l travel in coach was on Qantas, followed by DAL, with Air New Zealand being last. And yes, I was on space available on all.

Thanks. We apprecitate it. Hopefully our bros at NWA can get back to the service they had for years. A good healthy industry would benefit us all.

I can tell you as an ex fractional capt. and a continental silver elite member and delta gold member delta's first class domestic coach service sucks, you wouldn't even know you were in first class if you didn't have the wide seats. continetal on the other hand did a really good job. the food was great and the service was just as good.
