One positive thing I can say about SWA is that I have never been questioned about calling in sick. No doctor’s note or other harassment you hear about. Any changes to our sick leave/policies is a third rail for me in our contract negotiations- an automatic no.

It needs to be improved.

Once upon a time, there was a sick bank harassment program that existed in the various base CPOs. In the last 5-6 years, it has morphed into what it is today, which is to say that nobody is going to question a sick call unless you are already on the radar for something else.
I have flown with a dude who that very day got called into the CPO and got written counseling for a pattern of sick calls followed by premium pickups. That was a long time ago. Since then, I flew with a union rep who told me that they have really dialed it down since Covid and that in two years he only had to defend one case. He went in with the accused and the alibi was "I wasn't feeling great that day". No counseling received but I am sure the message was sent.
I have also flown with a few of our freedom fighters or whatever they call themselves who are consistently burning their sick bank down to zero out of retribution. As far as I know, none of them have been called on the carpet.

Well since we took a concession on it last round. That might be a good place to start. Who negotiated that again? Better accrual. 118% or better buy back. We better not have 15% NEC after this TA.

Because he wasn't senior. He was at SWA for a looooong time, but that isn't the same thing as being senior. he was still bidding bottom 1/10th in MCO. And it wasn't going to get much better for another 10 years. That is a side effect of only having NB that a lot of people don't take into consideration when they do the math. You can be a line holding NB cap at any legacy at +/- 50%, because the top 1/3 is basically a different company.
