iPad GPS
Just finished up transition OE to the Airbus. Noticed my iPad doesn't get a GPS fix for the Jepp geo-referenced charts using the iPad's onboard receiver in the bus, I assume its due to the side window heater. My last aircraft didn't have side window heat and it worked fine gate to gate. Anybody have suggestions for a little bluetooth GPS box? Our ops spec allow outboard GPS receivers, and I was considering the Garmin GLO2 or the Bad Elf. Just wondering what guys on the plane are using and experience.

Lots of people where I work use a Bad Elf or Bad Elf Pro+ I have a Bad Elf Pro+ and recommend it, mostly for the much longer battery life. Works great with iPad moving map Jepps and everything else.

This is a company problem. Not a You problem. Don’t go out spending your own money on hardware to attach to company iPad’s to make them work properly.
You people go out and drop $200 on a GPS receiver to make your company issued equipment work properly?

Well.. you sure don’t live up to your Screen Name. I’d recommend consulting with the CP. Enquire it the purchase of such devices are reimbursable upon submission of receipt. Cuts down on the adversarial atmosphere… Problem Solving and Decision Making.

I had the same issue today on 3 separate legs on a 319, 2 different aircraft. Try turning the iPad vertical in the mount so the receiver is pointing up until it acquires the signal, then turn it back around. It worked for me every time.
