Yes. Fly from your own seat unless you're a LCA. Your FOM most likely spells that out.

I might switch seats to taxi if I though that would get first responders on board faster. Otherwise take the high speed and then they can come get me with a tug.

Typical Halon post.

some people have flown from the left seat before. Some even have thousands of hrs in the left seat in the same plane.
Either way if your going to break rules and allow a non cass non approved person up front why would it matter what seat you're in at that point. Everyone has different comfort levels

your FOM likely specifically prohibits it, for one

yeah. Land rollout and either take a forward high speed or stop straight ahead from the seat I’m used to flying from. Then I would switch seats to taxi unless the first responders were right there with stairs. ( unless you are in a plane that has an FO side tiller)

personally my thought is a tug would take longer and that’s probably not time the CA has to spare.

it was actually just a sarcastic response to the person earlier who said they would of moved to the left seat to fly. because, hey it’s not that bad, just give it a few moments to get comfortable with a new seat while you’re dealing with the situation.

kind of a dumb response I think

I'm sure the FOM prohibits a non CASS person upfront also but that seemed ok. I like how we cherry pick rules.
As long as you can defend yourself in an investigation...

Flight attendants aren’t in CASS and they come up to the cockpit all the time.

and they don’t even have to show us their “license and medical either”

so we seem to cherry pick the logic we want to use as the base behind our policy too!

Ever hear of captain’s authority to deviate from SOP, AOM, FOM in the event of an emergency? Guess who is PIC when the captain is incapacitated?

I’ve seen numerous headlines today, such as “Off Duty Pilot Flying as Passenger Takes Over Plane After Captain Becomes Incapacitated Mid Flight”. (The Independent)
