My point is if you want to be rich, the best thing to do is to become educated.

If you want to become rich, the best thing to is become wealthy. That may or may not involve an education. Education is a good thing depending upon what one studies and what one does with the knowledge and skills learned.

Well,.... this is only partially correct. If you want to be comfortable
or even affluent then education is the key. However, the stats on millionares.... college graduates are in the minority. And in an even smaller minority among self made ultra rich. Most dropped out of college..... (or never went) i suspect it has something to do with creative and independent thought. Education is wonderful and necessary but usually has nothing to do with be coming very rich.

Oh ..... well thanks to Captain Obvious i now know that if i want to become a doctor i will have to go to med school.

A quick search reveals that your stats are off:

* As a group, we are fairly well educated. Only about one in five are not college graduates. Many of us hold advanced degrees. Eighteen percent have master's degrees, 8 percent law degrees, 6 percent medical degrees, and 6 percent Ph.D.s.

* As a group, we believe that education is extremely important for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. We spend heavily for the educations of our offspring.

Bullets 14 and 16.

Millionaires without a college degree are the exception, not the norm.

An education is by far one of best investments one can make.

As I said in my post I think education is very important. I have both Bachelor and post graduate degrees. My point is that the type of education one receives in university has absolutely nothing to do with becoming wealthy. I'll be back later with the whole statistical picture. For now I'll leave you with some anecdotal evidence.

Also i never questioned the intelligence of people like Bill Gates or Michael Dell (both college dropouts). They have vast intelligence but no degree.

85% of people work in a field other than that of the degree they posses. College is more beneficial in the personal growth, networking, and experiences obtained than the actual material studied. (This is obviously not the case for Docs and other highly specialized people. They must be in the 15%)

Yes - you can get rich in the airline industry!!!

You really want to get rich in the airline industry?

If so, you must watch this video – think of it as “Airline Management for Dummies!

Ps. Dummies being the pilots, flight attendants, and other employees of course.

Get a degree, but don’t count on it for anything. ;) College is fun. Remember in school your are being trained to be and employee, not the employer.

If your da da has some cash then you can go to and Ivy League school, learn some white collar crime and become successful and destroying airlines. :D

I humbly disagree. School teaches you problem solving and discipline, not to be an emplyee or employer. That is what is in the heart of the student.

Agreed. I've always thought of it as school teaches you to learn how to learn, which is what really helps you out later in life more than what specific area you studied.
