Question Jet Blue Life?

I've been kind of out the loop on things for a while, but am wondering how things are for new hires at Jet Blue? I'd appreciate any info from relative new hires an schedules, reserve, training, how hard it is to get Boston based, and what kind of time people who are hired have.

you can get boston almost right away. 3 months after training tops. training is easy and relaxed , and , in the 190 very good, in the 320 pretty bad, but still easy.
they are hiring fo's from the regionals, the 1000 PIC time is only total PIC, that includes your instructor time.
QOL... well, if you live in BOS and are based in BOS it should be pretty good. if you don't want to fly anymore than 70 hours a month you should be able to drop everything to 70 hours and have 18-19 days off a month. how long in reserve? that I won't even try to speculate on. rigth now is less than 3 month, but in 2 months in could be a year,or a week so I cannot help you on that.

apply, then go to the MCO open house and you will get an interview. the rest is up to you.'
would I go to delta, swa, ups, ual, fdx form here if offered the job? yes, as so do most of the FO's.

good luck

Well, all due respect to Mr. airline exec, there are some regional FO's getting hired but most had previous PIC turbine. In the last four or five classes there were only a handful who only met the 1000 PIC total without any PIC turbine. Fairly even mix between regional Capts, Corporate, And Military guys.

QOL so far isn't bad even JFK based on reserve. BOS might take a little longer than 3 months if you are on the bus, not sure about the 190 as they haven't run any classes for that since March.

All in all a great place to work. Just waiting around to see if any decisions are made regarding the 190 staying or going. Good luck with getting the interview.

I was called for an interview a month or two back and started to do some number crunching.... They don't offer the 5000 stock options anymore, they had just kicked Nelman to the curb, looking at that new pay comparison that Airline Pilot Central just put out; If your somewhat senior at the regionals 9 years or better it doesn't pay to take a chance, and their Health plan isn't so good.
I have quite a few friends over there and they all like it very much, they are a bit nervous about the future, and the 5 year contract (something that really doesn't bother me). If the big three don't try to undercut them out of JFK and they don't get bought I think It will be a great place to work. I just don't have the stones to make that move right now.

How does that 5 year contract thing work? Do they boot you out to make room for cheaper new hires?

no, as of rigth now it hasn't happened. it is a basic agreement like in any other non-union proffesional job.

To answer the next question, you do not go back to year one pay when your contract is renewed or when you upgrade (like some other startup LCCs).

Do you at least get an apron to wear for aircraft cleaning during quick turns?
