Many pilots at nwa that worked for Horizon...regret moving!!!!.had they stayed at Horizon they would be making more money....would be capt....and spending a lot more time at home. Unless your cristal ball shows nwa merging with DAL or CAL.. or you live in DTW or MSP..if not then..better to go to:.nk,f9,as,fl,yx...

B744 capt going early

After being at NWA for 26yrs am leaving for a better place. Not a fun place to be but remember things can change(have too) and the guys and gals left are some great people to fly with. Just know that going in..

pullup, i started there on the 2nd of july, and there was an 11 yr nwa fo in my class as well....congrats on seeing the light before i did!!! :) rumou has it there is a former MEM MEC rep staring in the 31 july class(yet to be confirmed)

For everyone else, the list of things in my post about nwa could go on even longer, but i could only type so much before my fingers gave out..
All i can say is that if you need to feed your family, and nwa is your only option, then i can understand(just dont plan on eating with them much). But if nwa is not your only option(and i cant imagine many scenarios where this would be the case), do consider DAL,CAL,SWAL etc.they are hiring and while not perfect, they have a much better working environment. Even with their announced slowing growth, these companys still have 4-5% mainline GROWTH forcast..NWA has already announced a 5% sched reduction for july and aug to account for improper manning(the are not even able to fill their 25 training slots per month w/ recalls- 50 pilots trained in 4 months!!!!)and the big reduction hits in the fall with the previously mentioned parking of appprox 69 narrowbodies. The ONLY growth at nwa for the forseeable future will be at compass, pinnacle and mesaba good luck to all

What's funny is that it's always been that way. When I was hired 19 years ago my friend asked why I would go to NWA when I had offers at PAA, AA and DAL. I told him that NWA didn't have a B-Scale. His reply? 'well as long as you are going to NWA because of the pay that's OK, just don't expect a love fest with management.' Now we don't even have the best pay...oh well beats unemployment.................

How senior is the MEM base? Also what is the reserve call out? Thanks

I enjoyed flying at NWA, I still think they have some of the finest crews in the business. It was fun working there for the most part right up until Steenland took over.. On top of being downright evil, I couldn't stand to see his ratface picture in the inflight mag. Working two jobs to make ends meet puts a fire under your a$$ to find something better.(hopefully)

I would like to work there, but I'm from Detroit area and that would be ideal. I also would like to work at Spirit.

Congrats Rockket!! Even though they will never admit it, the crew planning departments
collective head has got to be spinning over the unplanned attrition. I know more than a few senior guys who said as soon as they get the 787 type and some hours in the seat.... it's off to the highest bidder... I Love It!
