Apparently interns are now an 'unnecessary security threat' - God forbid they might actually get some valuable firsthand experience or something

:cool:Interns at NWA are allowed with authorization from the VP Ops.

I had a scheduled repositioning flight (rare, but they occasionally show up on pairings), and got permission to have my Dad ride the jumpseat. This was pre-911, I doubt I could pull it off these days.

First I've heard of that. Why I am I not surprised?

it is obvious you knew I meant in the air as well...

That is incorrect.. I am an intern at NWA right now, and belive me, I have tried everything possible to get this jumpseat thing back. In place of jumpseat, they are giving us a guaranteed interview with mesaba

I was in the last group of American interns that could jumpseat which was in the Fall of 2006. Now for my question... You don't get lower mins for Mesaba if you intern? What other benefits do you get for giving a semester to Northwest?

You get a non-rev ticket for every 30 days you work, you can recieve your high alt. endorsment, sim time (when avail. not so much now cause all of the training going on.) The mesaba deal is still in the works. I am coordinating with our HR manager to get the details. There might be lower mins, maybe not. Might interview now and get job contingent upon graduation, or maybe interview after grad. Nothing is for sure yet except that it will happen, just no details at this time.
