UAL Pilot Hiring Update 07/30/2007
#12
My point was that despite safety records, we are all exposed to the same risks and the outcomes aren't necessarily a result of superior airmanship. Of course I'd rather be lucky than good any day too.
I'm sure the recipient wasn't too distraught. I was only poking fun at an organization that's so dysfunctional that it can't provide a real email address when they reject them. Talk about integrity!

That's hard to believe United sends out such unprofessional correspondence, WatchThis. Then again, with the management you all have, it's not surprising

FDX 12 year MD-11 Capt. $220/hr (BTW - We have lots of 12 year widebody Capts.)
UAL 12 year 747 (you know, the 4 engine jet) $184/hr
UAL 12 year A320 Capt. (are there really any 12 year 747 Capt's?) $133/hr
FDX 25 year MD-11 Capt. A plan = $125,000/yr pension + B Plan
UAL 25 year 747 Capt. (you know, the 4 engine jet) PBGC plan = ~$23,000/yr
So ... isn't your entire issue really about penis envy? But at least you guys fly safely ...
Regards,
Mark

and to answer your question...UAL!
Capt Mark:
Just curious as to why you didn't include the 2 hull losses on 9/11 on your list? Your list already includes several terrorist-related losses as well as many mechanical failures.
"There but for the grace of God go I."
This whole thread should be deleted.

Really different eh? I have flown plenty of tags out of NRT on the 400 ( you know the 4 engine jet, that your competition operates) so yes I am familiar with Asia flying, South America and Europe. Seems that several of FedEx crashes have happened during daylight hours in the ol US of A. (MEM MD10, EWR MD11, TLH B727). I am not sure how many have happened outside the US. At any rate that is a significant number of crashes in a short period of time. Can you name a pax carrier with a similar record that is not based in one of the baltic states?
If you are too tired to fly a safe airplane then you should not accept the flight. Maybe that is the difference, the UAL pilots have the orbs to say NO to an unsafe condition. I hope the UPS pilots are more concerned about safety than FE because I am going to start shipping all my stuff on them in hopes of my items arriving without being turned upside down and burned.
As to the benefit situation. Didn't you guys just recently get a B fund?

If blindly attacking people is your M.O. I suggest you jump over to www.flightinfo.com. You'll find plenty of disgruntled guys to internet fight with.
And if you want to ship UPS I actually suggest doing so, so long as you don't care when it gets there. Disclaimer: (please reference little winky guy as indication of joke made to my UPS brethren, it is not my intention for said winky guy to induce rage nor reference accident records of any U.S. airline, winky guy and joke made purely in good fun and jest, UPS and FedEx both excel equally at global domination in the shipping industry.) Ahh, there.
Now back to the scheduled programming, what is the time frame for classes at UAL?
