Swa future plans

I have a chance to interview with SWA. I wasn't expecting it since I don't have a type.None the less it happened. Does anybody know if SWA is still planning to hire even if the rumors are saying there is a rollback in classes/hiring? Has anyone recently interviewed last month and been hired? I know someone who interviewed, was typed, a solid candidate with good references and was turned down by the July DB. He seems to think he may have been caught up in the scaleback. Anyone else. Thanks for the info.

There are plenty of others with better insight, but from what I see as a current poolie, this should be more temporary in nature. SWA is still expanding, just at a slower rate. They had been hiring pretty strongly during first half of the year, and now need to adjust the pilot inflow for the fact that they will be only getting 19 new jets, instead of 34.

I interviewd in Jun and passed (references called) and was turned down by the Jul DB. Have the type and 3000 turbine PIC. Who knows the secret formula:)

OK, I'll throw this question out since no one else has asked yet. It seems to fit in this thread...

APC is showing 207 Captain vacancies in SWA's LAS domicile. I'm assuming this is the total # of Captains projected for LAS? Same # of FO's? I was wondering if there was going to be a gradual build up of the domicile. Being a newbie to the business, I'm really not sure.

I forgot to mention that my friend told me that he went to a jobfair in april and SWA gave a hire number of 600 pilots this year and 750 next year before the throttle back in the number of planes they were getting. So who knows what the plan is?

Nope they are going to crew LAS with 207 CA and 200 FO's when they open it in Oct. A total realignment of all bases.

A2b go to the interview and do your best. It doesnt cost them anything to keep you in the pool. If they like you, you will be hired. It cost to much to bring people in to interview them. Good Luck!!

My wife was hired by the July DB, first attempt,no type, she is a regional captain ,and an airshow pilot (B-25). Our sources indicate continued hiring, and slowed but continued growth. Good luck, and God bless! Just be yourself !

SamFox & 727C47 - Do you guys post on FI.com. There is a pool list that is 30+ folks and growing. Good info to gauge your class timing. I post on another name on FI, but am on the list.

flightinfo.com It's a forum just like this one but bigger.

Lots of good info on there. But you have to read through the BS to find it.
