QRC vs Memory Items
Hey guys,
I know United tried some time ago in the past going to QRC and dumping the Memory items paradigm. I was wondering if that is still in use? Also, if it is, what and how does your airline go about that.... i.e do you keep a laminated copy in the plane or do you just keep a different type of paper readily accessible in your flight manual etc...? What do you think of that vs. the memory items method....? Thx! -schone |
Schone,
I don't work for UAL, but did work for ACA/Independence and we moved from memory items to a QRC during my time there... I liked the QRC so much that it was one of the first things that implemented at my new job after I was hired. (We're part 91, so we can do just about anything we want checklist wise). We keep two copies of the QRC laminated and in the cockpit. ~Josh |
Both the commuter I worked for previously and the major I work for now did away with the memory items for emergencies and went with one laminated Quick Reference Card between the pilots on the glare shield. Much better.

I believe that research has shown that less mistakes are made when using a QRC versus straight memory items. I like it. |
At CAL we have a few memory items for the 737 (I cant speak for other fleets) but they are all short and simple.
