FFDO-how to get approval on ID.me
 

FFDO is on the list for approved Federal agencies on ID.me. I sent in a picture of my FFDO ID and I keep getting rejected. Any idea what I’m missing? Any help on how to get approved is appreciated.

Not an FFDO, but I know when my kids ran into problems with their ID.me accounts they did a video call with them and it fixed everything.

Do you know how were they able to set up the video call? I filed a customer service report and the response was “once your documents are approved, a video call may be set up”. But that’s the problem, they won’t approve the ID! I found a phone number online but it just goes to a recording. I can’t figure out how to make contact with a real human being.

Um, you’re not supposed to copy your ID, big no no. Or allow anyone else (ie blue label Glock dealer) to make a copy either. Best way is to join FFDOA https://www.ffdoa.org/

Not the easiest site to navigate but has all the instructions for signing up at all the places that accept FFDO discounts. For one site, may have been ID.me I sent a copy of my FLETC graduation certificate so that might be an option.

It was pretty seamless—the system just guided them to it, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to help in your case.

I finally got it to work. It took 5 tries and I’m not exactly sure what the difference was, but it was approved.

Under federal law 18 U.S.C. § 701, the sentence for photographing, printing, or making an impression of an official federal identification card or badge without authorization is:

• Imprisonment: Up to six months.
• Fines: A monetary fine under Title 18.
• Both: The court can impose both a fine and a jail sentence.

Because of the aforementioned legalities, I've tried a few time to use other documents for ID.me to no avail. Not willing to risk sending a scan of something I can't. Could never get to the point of getting a video call which might solve the issue.
