If anyone has any info or experience trying to get on with Skybus. I just got the Skybus e-mail, thanking me for the resume. What can I be expecting from the rest of the process and the timeline for it. Also, any ideas on the competitive time for getting hired.

What attracts you to sky bus?

I would hope that part of their welcome package on the first day of GS would be the address and phone number for the local welfare office and the food stamp office.

The need to make money and support my family. Actually, I've been flying a 737 for a couple of years and would rather not go down to a regional sized aircraft.

Why not apply to better airlines that are in need of pilots like Allegiant, SWA (if you have 737 time) and even Virgin America? Skybus gets no respect anywhere... I would apply to Netjets if you need to live in Columbus.

If your a CL601 guy. Why not poke around in corporate or 135 flying? You'll be able to walk into twice skybums skipper pay right off the bat flying a 601.

Make sure you do some homework about Scumbus, I realize you don't want to fly regional size jets... you wont there, but you do get to keep the regional size paycheck. Honestly you can make as much CFIing as you can working for that cheapskate butterfly, PLUS you'll be home evernight with the family.

Who gives a rat's ass about a/c size? I'd fly a 172 for the right money. Would you really be proud walking amongst your peers flying for Skybus?

Actually, all that I care about is getting about 300 more PIC turbine. Which I would like to get in a larger aircraft. That way, I have the requirement completed for Southwest. Besides, who has the better shot at UPS or Fedex? The guy with RJ time or the one with Large aircraft time?

UPS wants transoceanic time, and FedEx you pretty much need to have 3 people you've flown with in the past to get you an interview, then you have the pleasure of interviewing for an interview.

So I'd say you have pretty much no shot at either one unless you meet those requirements. Also, they've been hiring 1900 pilots so a/c size is of little importance, except maybe for your ego.

I've got the oceanic time. twice as much as they require. No ego problems either.

Chief pilot's best friend drives the skybus ,, says thier filling seats and selling soda and sandwiches. they had thier computer system go down and didnt have a land line to dispatch so that was a big cluster.

At 30K a year? Horrible benifits? Any person who took that job would be doing their family a great disservice. Virtually everyone is hiring.

Believe me... We are not trying to turn you away because we are jealous of your skybus.com generic email. Do some research on here and find out why we all can not stand them, or the pilots who lowered their standards to fly for them.

I would question if working showed for Skybus showed a lack of integrity and judgement... as a regional FO I could easily pull in 5K less than a Skybus Captain on salary this year... When you leave Skybus now your company will be competing against the the wages that you helped standardize at Skybus. Just a thought.

I was hired without large jet time...so were several others in my class. One flew nothing larger than a Dash 8. It doesn't justify selling your soul to fly an Airbus for peanuts because it can be done without it.

Thanks for the info on skybus. I'm going to stick with the Part 91 job that I just got offered for now. I want to move over to the 121 side eventually but not to go from 110K down to 30K to do it. There would have to be something better than what the have to offer to make the change right now.
