I for one hopes SWA pilots never takes a pay cut period. They have set the bar high and I hope all other airlines pilots are trying to raise the bar at their own airlines. If the SWA pilots can make that money then we all should. It should be the industry standard-IMHO

I hope for the same thing AASuperSlug. I'm very happy we have a good payscale intact for the time being. The sad truth, however, is that technically we didn't raise the bar. The bar came down to us as our bar was rising.

Our current contract expires August 31st, 2006 and we find ourselves in no man's land with regard to pay negotiations next year. It will be one to watch closely.

I have also heard that SW already went to Boeing and asked for a 737 replacement that will burn 30% less fuel.
I personally think that SW will not stumble. Fuel prices may fluctuate up and down, but they will probably be about $40 per barrel in 2007, and SW is efficient enough to be profitable at that price with no hedges.

Thanks for telling it like it is SB and good luck in your contact. It helps everybody when the bar is rising.

I my opinion SWA gets more out of all of it's employees. The Mgmt doen't spend time lying to the troops and when called upon to buckle down and fight, the troops buckle down and fight, they don't start whining about all of the inequallity. SWA has fewer employees per plane than any other airline. I think?

As of Sept 30, 2005 the count was 71.5 employees/aircraft.
