Default International JS

Hey everyone. I was in Medellin, Colombia a few weeks ago after JS on American from Miami. The day I was to return I talked to the counter agent (after paying the applicable departure taxes) in order to request the JS. She told me that they (American) didn't allow that. Now I've heard from a bunch of people who have JS to other international destinations back and forth with no problems. Whats the deal? Where did I go wrong?? Any help is appreciated! I plan on going there again soon!

I've tried it too, I think it varies by company policy. I tried to jump on American after I got stuck in Mexico on a non-rev due to a cancelled flight (thank Mesa for that one). They told me that only American employees are allowed to ride up front in the jumpseat internationally.

From what I've been told no jumpseating on AA internationally. Maybe a few carriers have a side letter to allow them too, but neither of the two airlines I've worked at have been allowed.

No riding up front on international flights period. AA is strange, tech no j/s seats (in the back) int'l but if your are at a foreign station you might get an agent that will let you on....its hit and miss.

Learn to love your copy of your own compaines j/s list or at least carry it with you.

AA allows jumpseat internationally, but unfortunately there is a separate
Int'l jumpseat list with only about 8-10 carriers on it.
No riding in the actual cockpit j/s internationally(thanks TSA) unless you are an AA pilot, but as long as there is a cabin seat there should be no problem.

NWA has basically the same policy. Separate Int'l list. Must be NW pilot to ride in the Cockpit

Maddog, my info is that NWA offers int'l jumpseat to everyone on their list...there's no seperate list. I jumpseated internationally quite a few times on NWA during my time at QX.

I do not have it in front of me but there is a separate list. It includes just about everyone on the domestic list so it is not a problem for most J/S riders. We are always glad to help out when we can. Also, we can now carry as many J/S as open seats but most of our Europe flights are pretty full
