Life Experience degree
 

Does any one know if the major airlines like Delta accept a Life Experience degree from online schools? If not what type of online schools do they except?

are you serious? is there such a thing?

I doubt they would accept any school program that was not accredited. As far as "life experience" degrees, I would be surprised if they were accredited and you didn't have to do anything other than submit your life story/certificates. Online schools would probably be okay if coming from an accepted institution like Embry Riddle or other university. A lot of enlisted military work their way up while on duty utilizing those types of programs...don't have many other realistic options really. Delta seems to be mil friendly so I would think those programs would be acceptable. It's competitive though so it might be an achilles heel during an interview if you waited until you were 50 to do anything and don't really have a good reason why you didn't do it earlier. Hope this helps.

Read the 'Fake Degrees' thread in Cargo, pretty much the same discussion. Life Experience degrees and Fake degrees are synonymous.

True, life experience degree means you give someone a resume and money and they mail you a degree. I'll mail you one for free that I can make on my computer and printer. No accreditation = no degree.

I have a BS in Liberal Studies. During my interview, the lady form personel says/asks "So what's a liberal studies degree anyway?" with attitude.

I was certain she was either a "*****" or trying to get me defensive.

I responded, "Did my Mom ask you to say that?"

She laughed, and then i said my parents begged me to get a different (engineering) degree. I then sighed, and we both laughed again.

BTW, I got my 4 yr from a state college while flying for a regional airline.

It took 2 years. I had a 2 yr degree when i started.

Anything is possible.

From what I understand, it is a "company" (not a real college) who gives you a degree based on your life experience. Like it equals a college degree; assuming you have life experience. You send them money and tell them what life experience you have and they mail you a college "degree" on fancy paper for you to frame and hang on your "I love me" wall. They are not real. They are not accredited.

Another topic:
I always wondered how real colleges give out "honorary" degrees to people. If I get an honorary doctorate from a real college; and I a doctor in that field? Seems stupid to me. I guess if you donate enough money to a college you can get an honorary degree. It should be a doctorate of brown nosing. Almost the same as "life experience" degrees, but you normally have the undergrad degree already.

Great observation! You have movie stars getting honorary degrees from Ivy League Schools.

But as far as Airline interviewing, it would suck to have the job offer and then get a letter saying your college was Uncredited.

Whatever you do, don't apply for a job using a "Life Experience Degree". Not only are they bogus degrees from diploma mills, they are actually illegal in many states.

If you knowingly apply to and get hired by an employer using a false diploma from one of those "schools", and they find out, not only will you promptly get terminated, but you could be prosecuted to.
