Default AMR gives contract proposal: no pay raise!

I thought the large pay cut years ago was a "shared" sacrifice? What a crock http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070925/ameri...abor.html?.v=1

When I was in High School in 1978. I was working at a Tire store busting tires (removing and replacing tires). I went in to the Managers office. I asked for a raise. I had worked there 6 months. He said ok. I was making $1.90 an hour.
He raised my pay to $2.05 an hour. Which was above the minimum wage at the time.

Don't read much into my above statement.

This is Negotiations 101. Management is supposed to always say "No you cannot have raise."
Then the union responds with, "We need a raise or else"

At least that how it's supposed to go.

I can't think of any other time in history that employees took 23% pay cuts (to be fair-we have recouped some of that) and then 5 years later didn't get a pay raise after having saved the company from Bankruptcy.

Screw 'em and their POS proposal! You'd think they would've learned by now to NOT negotiate directly with the pilots - that's what the union negotiating comittee is for.

Sequence protection.... whopp dee doo. What they are proposing is having to be in base for the footprint of the whole trip to be pay protected. Sucks!

Roger that!

That proposed seq protection still doesn't cover mechanicals.
At least that's what I heard. I refuse to go look at Mgmt propaganda.

So I shouldn't say anything or comment since i'm going by what i heard.

Negative. Same crap, different decade. AMR gets to sell the public on "look we make the pilots work only 82 hours a month", meanwhile they're on capital hill lobbying against a stike effort by APA.

Don't settle for anything less than a 30% raise (or whatever the paycut was you took in 2003). Same goes for United, Delta, Northwest, US Air, and Continental!

REMEMBER, a 20% paycut takes a 25% raise to recoup.
Example. Say you made $100/hr. You take a 20% pay cut. Now you make $80/hr. To get back up to $100/hr, you need to take a 25% pay raise to get back to $100/hr.

Management does not figure it that way. Here is how they see it.
