Cal Pilots Contract 08 Survey

Everyone,

At a minimum as union members we have to participate in polling data for our union. Please take 15 minutes of your time and participate in the poll. This is a very important poll. As many of you remember I was fighting our union last time around because I truly believed we had the wrong leadership.

Today is a different story. I am actively engaged in the contract effort and I wouldn't put my name down if I didn't believe this to be true. Information is knowledge and knowledge is power. Get involved with our contract effort, take the poll and make sure your friends do as well. Thank you!

Fraternally,

Jayson Baron
CAL ALPA
Strike Preparedness Chairman
Membership Committee

CA Jay Pierce, Negotiation Committee Chairman, has asked for the assistance of the SPSC volunteers. The current website survey is not being taken by the pilot group, less than 25% with 6 days to go.
Jay has asked that we push the pilots to take the survey. It is imperative that at least 50% of the pilot group take this survey because this % is needed to be considered valid. The results will be tallied and the MEC will be briefed on the results and the opening position for Section 6 (Economics) will be garnered from these results. This will shape our next contract and we need everyone's input.

If you are in the crew room, get all pilots to use the CMS computers and go to the calalpa website, there is a BALLOT POINT HOT button on the home page that will direct you to ballotpoint.com/spalpa, or they can go directly to ballotpoint.com/spalpa on a personal/hotel computer. The ID is each pilot's ALPA #, Password is SURVEY for all. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes. If you are not flying prior to Sunday, do what you can to get the word out, i.e. call friends or visit the crew rooms if possible.

CA Mike Jones
CALMEC
SPC Chairman

Hey Jayson,
Hope you're enjoying the 756!! I've tried several times to take this survey and it won't accept my VIN or password. Would be nice if they'd make this stuff a bit more "user friendly" instead of coming up with these stupid passwords for every piddley thing......... ewrbasedpilot karl

I did it weeks ago. Not difficult at all.

Karl,

I thought that was you, how are you! Just did my first LIM trip even better then GYE! How is the left seat treating you?

Call the MEC Office ASAP 281- 987-3636 and e-mail our new Membership Chairman (my boss) Sherry Quekemeyer at [email protected]
and she will correct any errors and make sure you can get on to ballot point for the survey.

Hey I am on the membership committee because I proposed to Sherry and she told me to run with my new idea. I am designing a new course for new hires after they finish IOE and are released to the base. The course will be six to eight hours and most probably (after approved by the MEC)

Part 1: Continental History

Part 2: ALPA and CALALPA 101 - most specifically explaining the structure of ALPA and CAL ALPA and negotiating under the RLA.

Part 3: CAL 101 - CCS, bidding etc

The goal is to get to new hires right away and make the point when you get off probation what job do you want? If you want a real contract WE NEED YOUR Participation, no excuses! Image Flt Ops reaction when they here the Strike Prep Chairman is going to be meeting and personally educate many of the new hires?

Thank you,

Please help spread the word to those you know, fly with and see in the wx room and crew rooms.

Imagine the message it would send to the company if we went frm 25% to 90% or better participation in the pole in a few days.

Intial ALPA blast mail:

Beginning on September 10, ALPA will be conducting a web-based survey of our workgroup. This survey will help provide valuable information to your Negotiating Committee and MEC on issues that are either being discussed in the near future or will be part of our opening position for the economic sections as we work toward negotiating Contract '08. All voting members and apprentice members at Continental Airlines have been selected to participate in this survey.

Your input is essential.

If every crewmember participates, the web-survey will provide extremely accurate results. If not, accuracy will suffer commensurately.

Our goal is for every eligible member to respond to the web-based survey. At a minimum, we need at least 80% to participate. We believe that a figure above 90% is achievable.

Here are a few frequently asked questions about web-based surveys:

How do I log on?

The survey is found on the internet at this link:

https://www.ballotpoint.com/spalpa

In the upper left you will see "ID:" and "PWD:"

* For "ID:" Use your Member ID.
* The "PWD:" is "SURVEY".

Then follow the menu prompts. If you would like detailed login instructions they are as follows:

* Click the button titled "Login" Along the left you will see "View Surveys"
* Click on that item. In the middle of the screen you will see a box listing the survey titled: "Continental Web Survey".
* Click on the "Request Survey" button to start your survey.

If you have difficulty accessing the survey, please contact the MEC office at 281-987-3636.

What if I feel I do not have enough information to answer all the questions?

Please answer the questions that you are comfortable with and indicate, if necessary, where you are unsure about the others. Even if you are unsure, it is very important information for your union to know. It allows your union to know the areas in which we need to provide additional communications and educational materials.

When will the web-survey end?

September 30, 2007 at 10 AM ET

What happens if I choose not to participate?

First, ALPA leadership will not have the value of your input. Second, with each crewmember who chooses not to participate, the results become less reflective of the entire pilot group. In survey terminology this is called self-selection bias.

How long is the survey?

It will take you about 20 minutes to complete.

Will the union know my individual responses to the questions?

No. ALPA will receive tabulation of all the responses, but will not know your individual responses.

I don't understand why there wouldn't be 100% completion since we are discussing future pay and QOL issues. Am I missing something?

aa73 09-26-2007 07:07 PM

We just did our APA contract survey. Every question had a scale from 1-5, with 1 being very satisified and 5 being ready to strike over it. I can't even read the number 5 on my keyboard any more.
