PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The FAA says an airline flight bound for Atlanta with 143 people on board returned to Philadelphia shortly after takeoff today because a bird struck and broke the windshield. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters says the co-pilot of AirTran Airways Flight 47 suffered minor injuries. Peters says about 10 minutes after the Boeing 737 left Philadelphia International Airport the pilot radioed the control tower to say the plane was returning because the right windshield had cracked. Peters says the co-pilot, who sits in on the right side of the cockpit, was being treated for minor face cuts from the broken glass. Airport spokeswoman Phyllis Van Istendal says no one else on board was injured. |

Well, technically, in this case it was the FAA spokesman. Judging from the way things are going, what do they know?
