You will not be able to bid back to ATL until the next AE, which should be in the beginning of March (I think). Junior ATL ER pilot is 71xx. Don't know exactly. So its possible. Likely??? Dunno. This AE had a great deal of movement because of the establishment of new categories. May not be the case on subsequent AE's. The nice part about the NYC ER, however, is that you can bid for atl767 as well as atl7er without having to go through training again and without a seatlock.

I'll be converted to ATL ER's following the latest AE. Personally, I plan on being on reserve until I can hold Capt. Its a senior seat, period. NYC ER is far more junior at the tail end of the list, for your class if you stay there, maybe a year to be a junior line holder/ maybe six months. They should be putting more newhires on that seat now that the AE came up so short...so that could work out for you.

If anything, it would be better for all of you in the Dec 3rd class if there was some variety of airframes available, but I don't think that will be the case.

Long and short of it is that there isn't a bad seat for newhires right now. Anyone who tells you differently is selling you something. We plan on hiring solid numbers next year and you no longer have to fly sideways as a newhire...life is good. Until oil starts kicking our collective ass. Hopefully, this time around the entire industry is smart enough to simply pass the costs on directly to the consumer.

Have fun in indoc.

Thanks Pro.. That helps a lot with my planning. I have to agree that a seat is a good seat and I am very happy to be aboard. The 7ER out of NY is fine for now but I plan on moving south and the sooner the better. I also have a strong feeling the indoc will clarify it all and that I will be able to make the best decisions after that. I just want to prepare the better half of what is to come - a move from Las Vegas to Florida or GA is not something that we can do without me preparing her well in advance.. you know..

Again thanks a lot for the info, see you on the line...

Viking,

If you get the ER in NYC, I have to warn you...you may just love it. :)

At least most every trip is commuter-friendly and you only have to worry about getting to JFK, vs. the domestic categories up here.

Welcome!

Good luck with that. Indoc was dramatically underwhelming with respect to any statements from anyone regarding any kind of motion or timeline. Everything is in flux right now, so nobody wants to commit to answering anything. When we picked, some guys were asking "If I want to get to SLC, should I bid NYC7ER or NYCM88?" The answer was pretty much, "I'll ask again, what airplane do you want?" That guy picked the M88, thinking it would be easier to get to SLC, but just bid and got the 767 in SLC on this AE, along with a 2-year aircraft freeze that he didn't really need. Would've been helpful if anyone had been willing to stick their neck out and make some nonbinding predictions.

Anyway, no real big deal. Everyone in my class is going to be pretty much where they wanted after this conversion is complete. All bases except CVG were available to us in the 767/7ER.

You might be dead on. And I might just stay there. What I really want is to move back to Fla and find a place there that is commuter friendly. Can't wait to get going.

I think it always will be underwhelming, name of the game kinda deal. Lots of people with very different background, and a teacher that more than likely is way overworked just lines it up for an underwhelming deal. Never the less, we will get the manuals and contracts so all I really have to do is to look it up. Should I have any ??? after that I will more than likely ask you guys on here. You are of great help, and I really appreciate any input you give us, thanks again.
